visited Athenas Restaurant in Hoylake. this was by far one of the best meals we have ever had. you couldn't fault
anything, the service, the decor, the food, the wine. Highly recommended for a night out - 10/10. will defo be
visiting again. Recommended by Claire (17th
February 2010) i visited Athenas for the first time over the Valentine's weekend. I have to say i was a
bit dubious as the reputation had declined in the last couple of years but i have heard so many positive reports about the
new ownership recently that my hubby and i decided to give it a go... We made the mistake of not booking and were lucky they
could fit us in which was a good sign ! the restaurant is traditional but in olive green rather than blue which is softer
than before, the atmosphere was warm and friendly and we only hoped the food would match the lovely welcome and attentive
service....All the food is homemade and boy can you tell... At Louise the owner's recommendation Martin had the dolmades
(stuffed vine leaves) and Sheftalia (Cypriot sausages which were especially fantastic) and I had Garides (king prawns) and
whole seabream..All I can say is wow ! Amazing flavours, The chef even took the time to pop out and check everything was ok
which was lovely ! ....the repuation for this place should build quickly as these guys deserve to be successful...Go and see
for yourself..(but make sure you book !) ps.. the housewine (Pinot Grigio) is a litre not the standard size bottle you
get in most places... and far too drinkable. beware !! Recommended

And Jamie (15th February 2010) i would not change a thing! i went with my boyfriend tonight for
our valentines treat, the hostess had impeccable manners and it had a very warm welcoming feel. the chef came out introduced
himself told us a bit about himself and the establishment without intruding. the hostess told us that she was very proud to
tell us all of the food was homemade, we had the lamb soup off the specials which was to die for and a Greek salad which was
impeccable and the mains were just as fabulous!!! thanks for a lovely night, we will definitely be back!!! :) x x x Recommended by Carol_t (7th February 2010) Absolutely

(12th October 2009) Wow! Athena's, Hoylake is well worth a visit. They offer a wide selection of Greek cuisine,
and include all the traditional favourites and all cooked using fresh produce, making the dishes extremely tasty.
To start we chose Baked Feta which was delicious and piping hot, and Home-made Lamb Soup, so tasty you wouldn't believe
it.
I chose the Lamb Kleftiko for my main meal, which was really tender, juicy and full of mouth-watering flavours.
My partner chose Garides Skordo (king prawns with garlic, wine & chilli in a cream sauce) this was absolutely divine and
highly recommended.
Athena's offer a really a friendly atmosphere in lovely surroundings.
Definitely
well worth a visit. Try it and see for yourself, I am sure you won't be disappointed.
